North Mill Creek Outfall Rehabilitation Project, Pre-Construction Video – January 2020

Winston Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina
Waste Water Line, Pre-Construction
Video
January 2020

This particular project did not require progress photography or construction photography. We have done projects in North Carolina and other states for the past five years with several contractors. This project required ALL PRO USA to document a hiking trail, the nature area around it, the neighborhood that the line would be running through, and the road and parking lots of businesses that would be impacted by the installation of this line. ALL PRO USA was also required to document streets, sidewalks and intersections in the town of Winston Salem, North Carolina which is within Forsyth County. The area that we working in was just a couple miles from the prestigious Wake Forest University.

The Project that the contractor will be working on is the replacement of a waste waterline along an existing path as well as the installation of a new section. With this being a residential area with some traffic traveling through it, safety was a top priority for the team. Each team member was wearing their high visibility gear and although this job did not require hardhats we had them packed with the truck in case they became needed. We tackled this project with a three man team. This allowed us to capture all of the areas in a time effective manner. One of our team members focused on operating the handheld camera, while another focused on maps and drawings of the area to ensure we captured everything that was within the limits of disturbance for the project.

The focus of the video was to document the road surface, sidewalks, curbs, culverts, retaining walls, utilities and landscaping along the proposed construction path for the replacement of the pre-existing waste water lines as well as the installation of a new segment. The contractor also asked us to capture key locations such as the conditions around pre-existing collectors and the conditions of areas that would become construction entrances during the course of the project. There were two types of gear that were used to document this project our truck mounted camera and a handheld gimbal mounted mirrorless camera. ALL PRO USA documented each section of the project in a logical manner using a three man team. By documenting the project in this way the contractor has a cohesive package that can be watched from start to finish to see all of the areas within the limits of disturbance or jump to a specific section to allow for quick reference to a specific section of the job.

Prior to the start of construction for the replacement of the pre-existing waste water lines. ALL PRO USA was contracted to do pre-construction video of the road surface conditions for a neighborhood around the Bethabara Trail, along with detail videography of the curbs, sidewalks, driveways, intersections and residences. We documented all of the streets as well as their sidewalks and intersections in the Neighborhood. It was also a requirement that we capture the conditions of a walking trail and the area behind the backyards of some of the residences.
To capture the streets of the neighborhood we mounted our camera with PAN-TILT-ZOOM controls to the roof of our truck. This allows the camera operator to both reposition the vehicle as well as the camera for the best possible shot without getting in and out of the vehicle. The other shot below shows off our gimbal stabilization that allows us to get a drone like shot even in places the drone cannot fly. This allows for crystal clear pausing of the videos to see any details that the contractor may need to take a closer look at.
The last section of this particular project required our most attention to detail. The area that would be impacted by the project was a street with four or five small businesses. We wanted to make sure that we captured every bit of damage that was pre-existing to protect both the contractor and the business owners. To do this we used both out truck mounted camera shown in the video below, but we also walked this section in detail with the handheld camera to ensure proper coverage. The second video clip below is the coverage of an area that would become a construction entrance during the course of the project. This further highlights the attention to detail that we take pride in here at ALL PRO USA.
